Gail Avent is the Executive Director and founder of Total Family Care Coalition (TFCC), a leading family-run organization in Southeast Washington, DC, that champions supportive services for families and youth. Under her visionary leadership, TFCC has become CARF-accredited, a peer-operated center, recognized as a certified peer support provider and a DC Medication Recovery Support Provider.A passionate advocate, Ms. Avent is a founding community leader with the Early Childhood Innovation Network (ECIN) at Children’s National Hospital, driving initiatives such as the Parent Council and family research. She collaborates with the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) to create certified peer support training programs and chairs the DBH Peer Certification Committee.Recipient of the prestigious Federal Statewide Family Network grant from SAMHSA, Ms. Avent exemplifies dedication to family advocacy. She holds degrees in Criminal Justice (American University), Law (Antioch School of Law), and Business Administration (Strayer University) and is a graduate of the Georgetown University Leadership Academy. Additionally, she contributes as faculty at Georgetown University’s Family Leadership Certificate Program.
